About

You may be wondering who we are and why we came to create these workbooks. The creators, editors, and contributors come from a variety of fields and include a community of providers from around the country that actively work in the reproductive healthcare field and abortion care. An important part of our work has been listening to people talk about their experiences and their concerns about their emotional and spiritual life before, during, and after their pregnancy decision or abortion. We feel we have learned a lot that can be useful to others who feel they need help in feeling more resolved about their experience.

Peg Johnston has spent over 40 years in abortion care and her primary concern has been improving the abortion experience. Early in her career it became clear that women and those around her sometimes needed more support to make a decision about a pregnancy. The silence and stigma surrounding abortion can cut off individuals from their usual support and coping strategies. The Pregnancy Options Workbook, and later the Guide for Emotional and Spiritual Resolution After an Abortion, grew from her experiences talking to people involved in making a decision, including partners, parents, and the patients themselves.

Peg is the Executive Director and co-owner of Southern Tier Women’s Health Services, LLC in upstate New York. She has also created patient handouts for the Abortion Conversation Projects.

Cedar River Clinics

Cedar River Clinics has provided compassionate reproductive health care in Washington State for over 40 years. Our services include abortion through 26 weeks, birth control, well-woman/well-person care, and LGBTQ wellness including transgender care. We are a social justice organization that combines direct services with advocacy and community education. We have utilized the original Pregnancy Options Workbook to help our pregnant people make decisions and are proud to help share the new versions to clinics and patients around the country.
